We expect to lose the lottery just like last year so we get Eichel.

I may be in the minority, but with an 80 percent chance at getting Eichel, I think it would be really neat having Toronto get McDavid. McDavid Vs. Eichel rivalry with such close proximity would be really neat. Plus, McDavid deserves to go to a destination that appreciates hockey (ie Toronto) not a place like Phoenix or Carolina FFS.

EDIT-- Obviously I'd prefer McDavid. But Eichel is more likely.

Seriously? You want your arch enemy to get a generational superstar? Wander over into the Leafs thread for a few minutes and then see if you have the same opinion.

I'm not sure I like Pysyk being included in this deal... but I'd be willing to see Ruhwedel packaged with Grigorenko and the team's second 1st round pick this year. Grigorenko has more potential value to the Avs, due to Patrick Roy, than any other team (most likely). The 1st round pick in this year's draft is very valuable, as most teams are flat out refusing to include their 1st round pick in trade this year. O'Reilly is having a down season and has the Avs in a bind in terms of his contract situation. I wouldn't necessarily refuse to include Pysyk, but if I'm Murray I expect another piece coming back to Buffalo in addition to O'Reilly... the Sabres would still need to extend the guy. Can you imagine giving up all of this and losing him after 1 full season?!

This is insane. O'reille is good, but not great. He is also a UFA next year, and greedy. His antics have become a locker room headache and there is no reason to believe that it will stop any time soon. Why would Tim Murray trade away more top notch prospects and picks for him when we already are looking at McEichel, Reinhart, Girgensons down the middle? Sure the Avs might want Grigorenko, which can still be a quality center for us, but they will want more like our other 1st round pick and pysyk. Way too much to pay for a player who will not want to be our 3rd line center and will walk next year.

(frank) that.

They'll get Grigs and the late 1st (that Wpg doesn't get) and like it.

2 more?

They've gotten like 10 points in the last 25 games.

We're fine.

Feel free to continue your slide to the 4th or 5th pick, however. And watch Shanaban "tear it all down", and suck for the next 5 years, at least.

You don't want to lose Grigorenko okay but remember it is the quantity that creates value for the package:

Hodgson(yes he has value 20 goals last year, 34points in 48 games in lockout)
Pysyk
Larsson
1st
2nd Islanders

for

O'Reilly

O'Reilly 7 years at $7 mil. Girgensons is a natural winger per Ted Nolan who would know. If we win the lottery McDavid can be the 2nd line center with Moulson and Foligno or Kaleta whom ever you think will protect him better. Grigorenko can be 3rd line. Reinhart in the minors at least the first half and then can come up to play RW with McDavid. If we get Eichel, keep him in college one more year to win the Frozen Four and may be gold in the WJC. The team will grow without him but more importantly he will grow into the superstar we need by excelling. O'Reilly will evolve into our 3rd line center as our depth developments into NHL talent. In 3 years we will be a powerhouse and by then we should have a starting goaltender we can rely on and Obiwans failure will be complete.

For everyone who keeps on saying ROR wants 7-8m x 7 years...please show one report or quote thats what he is looking for. And the hold outs multiple time, locker room headache/cancer...he held out once in during the lock out in a group of RFAs who all did the same thing..Benn, PK, and Stepan. Its not like he was the only one who was using that tactic

No one knows what him and his agent are looking for, all they have said is that he wants to be be paid fairly. So until its actually quoted what he is looking for, its just all speculation and causing crazy talk in regards to his value.

Hes a good player and will get paid for what he is worth...which would be a lot on the open market in a bidding war. But if he is traded to a team that he is a clearly defined role and considered a core piece, who knows what he would sign for.

So chill out regarding his "greedy" contract demands, it doesn't change the fact that he is a talented hockey player that I wish the Avs would keep but if the team wants to get better overall, move from a position of strength to correct a position of weakness seems like the only option at the moment

I'm betting it's going to be either:

Grigorenko, 1st (NYI's), Zadorov FOR Orielly
or
Grigorenko, 1st (NYI's), Jake McCabe FOR Orielly

You would understand that the Avs biggest need is an "immediate defensive solution". So you would be talking one of Bogo, Zads or Risto. Psysk or McCabe wont be enough to cut it. One of them and the lower 1st would be the center part of the deal with prospect thrown in. The deal would most likely happen at the draft. Also I think the grigs connection is overrated. Sure he played for Roy, however all that means is that Roy will know alot about the player but not necessarily that he will have a desire to bring him to the Avs.

Just wanna put that out there so Sabers fans can understand what the possible cost would be.

(this info being extrapolated from reports from Dreger, BoB and Lebrun)
